What to Bring
Frost Valley is a summer camp, but we're staying in lodge-style accommodations (think: motel), so there's generally no need to bring anything other than what you'd have with you on a regular day (see specifics below). There are dirt or paved roads leading to every location on the camp, and the roads are open to cars within reason. In the event of a total downpour or injury, you can drive anywhere, but Frost Valley encourages visitors to walk as much as they feel they can. The wedding will be on Saturday afternoon, so that day is largely accounted for, but there will be opportunities to take time to yourself, take advantage of Frost Valley's offerings, or socialize with the other guests.
What is Provided
- Meals in the Frost Valley dining hall (Friday evening snack; Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Sunday breakfast and lunch)
- Private lunch at the Saturday afternoon reception
- Bed linens
- Bath linens (to be used indoors only)
- Canoes, kayaks, and row boats
- Firewood (please leave your own firewood at home—we are not allowed to bring any in, but we'll have plenty available)
What to Bring
- Comfortable clothes.
- Appropriate footwear. The camp is large and you'll do lots of walking, sometimes on paved roads, sometimes on dirt paths, sometimes on grass. It's the fall, so it's possible the ground will be damp. If you like to hike, bring your boots! There are many trails nearby and there will be several opportunities to see the famous fall colors!
- Wedding clothes. Please know that this is not a formal wedding; leave your tux at home (unless you feel most comfortable in a tux). We encourage you to wear clothes that make you feel fabulous, but also clothes which are appropriate to a moderately outdoor setting. The ceremony and reception will be indoors, but we'll be walking for about ten minutes between the two, and we'd be very sad if your silk-and-suede Jimmy Choos were ruined.
- Flashlight and batteries (for evening exploring!)
- Sunblock, bug spray, toiletries, camera
- Calling card for long distance calls—
cell phones don’t work at Frost Valley,
but there are pay phones available for
you to use
- Your charming self
- If you want to bring a board game or a deck of cards, we sure as heck won't
stop you
What NOT to Bring
- Alcohol. This is a camp, and we're not the only residents. Alcohol is strictly prohibited and any violation could get us ejected.
- Fancy shoes (unless they're old and you want to use the heels to aerate the lawns)
- Pets
- Seventeen of your closest friends. Please see "Can I bring a guest?" in the FAQ.
